许莹，心性单纯，纯朴而恬静。她的水墨人物透着积极进取的人文意识，人物造型朴实、基本功扎实，人物结构的形式具有内在的力量，显现了她对造型感觉与笔墨的智慧，并在造型形象中培养起敦厚的主体意识，逐渐托出精微的理性贯穿其中。许莹的乡土人物画所形成的笔墨语言有着淳厚的泥土气息，画面的整体造型在自然与乡民的体验中得到了内在的提升。在都市人的写生中，许莹把都市潜存的矛盾应用于理性造型与笔墨结构里，以不规则边缘结构的意象生来象征人物状态，刻画了一群群依附于都市边缘的普通人，显示出她在造型语言上的厚度。一方面在笔墨语言中提纯乡土的纯朴心性。她的笔墨与造型从本体上融入了当代的人文语境，以挚真的笔墨感受与造型个性形成了自己的绘画语言。2007年5月于中央美院

Xu Ying is pure, simple and quiet. Her ink figures reveal positive human consciousness with simple characters and basic skills. The form of character structure has the inner strength and shows her feeling for modeling and wisdom of pen and ink. In addition, she cultivates honest consciousness in the model image and the subtle rationality gradually propped out throughout her works. The ink language of Xu Ying's local figure paintings has unsophisticated soil smell. The overall shape of the picture has been inherently enhanced with experience of nature and villagers. For the paintings on city dwellers, urban latent contradiction is applied by Xu Ying to rational modeling and the ink construction. She uses the imagery of irregular edge structure to symbolize people status and describes a group of ordinary people attached to the edge of the city and shows her skill of modeling language. On the one hand, she purifies the simplicity mind of native soil in the ink language. Her pen and ink and styling ontologically integrate into contemporary social context.
