作品里的版痕墨迹,印制间的偶然天成,空间中的聚散成章,在谭平的版画逻辑里,我不时地回身转向:他追究那些痕迹的形式意味;他执意颠覆和回绝版画复数性的必然预设,刻意去凸显和发现的是活版印制时,模件化工作方式中此时此刻此地此人选择的刹那片断;他好奇画室里的作品一旦被视为现成物,它与不同场合之间形成的关系和语境,将会如何构筑作品可能付诸实现的时态。
谭平的版画方式,有着指涉现代之艺术语言议题和挂名当代之艺术功能议题的杂糅互见,从来都不是单行线。细观缓行,在谭平的版画实践中,会怦然心惊:眼见着数码复制时代的临场,我们在目送着机械复制时代的渐远,也在尝试追逐着手工复制时代的传说。

Legends Inside
- On Tan Ping's Prints

Along with Tan Ping's logic in his prints, one finds oneself being constantly amazed by those printed inky traces, unexpected effects generated from printing and proper spatial melody. Tan engages himself in exploring various forms and their implications. He determines to subvert and deny the conventional prerequisite of plurality for print art, since he intends to distinguish and disclose the specific moments as being here and now and self ,which refer to when, where and who employing in the module-type process of typographic printing. Meanwhile, he is curious about how the connection and context, generated from his art work and the space of its delivery, would construct a given tense when his art work is supposed to be completed, once the art work is created from his studio and recognized as a ready-made object.
The approaches of Tan Ping's prints always address those issues on one post-modern puzzle about art: what and for what art is. As one reads and tastes Tan Ping's prints, one cannot help palpitating beyond expectation. At the current age of digital duplicability, whereas we see off the age of mechanical reproduction fading away, we try seizing those legends attached to the manual type.
